On June 7th-9th, urologists from Vietnam visited Dr. Park for three days to observe and receive training for inflatable penile prosthesis. A total of 6 doctors made the visit, including Dr. Truong Hoang Minh, professor of urology at Ho Chi Minh City’s 115th Hospital, and Dr. Nguyen Hoai Bac, head of the Department of Urology at Hanoi Medical University Hospital
In July of 2019, Dr. Park visited 115 People’s Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to perform the first inflatable penile implant surgery in Vietnam’s history. He was also invited in March this year by the Hanoi Medical University to demonstrate and train Vietnamese urologists in penile implant surgery. The Vietnamese doctors’ visit to Korea was an extensive version of the previous training course, designed to give them a deeper understanding of IPP surgery
As the COVID-19 pandemic nears its end, interest in penile implants have been rekindled in Vietnam for both public and Vietnamese urologists alike. The visiting Vietnamese doctors showed this rekindled interest with enthusiasm during the training course. In the future, Dr. Park hopes to bring more awareness to this field in Vietnam by doing more training courses.
